The "Splash" on Water Aerobics

The "Splash" on Water Aerobics

I think I'm addicted... I can't get too many water workouts each week.. The people I have met from the teens to the 80+ all splashing up a storm!! The music is invigorating and the movements are just plain great for you. I recently had hit a plateau in my weight loss.. so I joined the gym that offered water classes. And would you believe after tqo weeks of attending I lost 6 pounds and "several" inches!! It's a great social activity. My new swim friends chat and workout.. and then take a nice hot soak in the hottub when we are
all done.  What could be better than friends laughing and frolicking in the beautiful blue water?

For every 60 minutes of vigorous water aerobics you will earn 3 activity points, and burn approximately 306 calories.  Try it.. you might just get addicted.. too!!

Tennis Anyone ??

 Tennis Anyone ??

I had no idea how much fun it was going to be when I came across some second hand tennis rackets at a thrift store many months ago. And the exercise that we get just "batting" the ball back and forth... not to mention the amount of stooping and bending.. My husband and I go to the courts as often as we can. The fresh air and beautiful outdoor scenery that we enjoy makes this such a fun activity for us, it hardly seems like we are exercising. We both plug ourselves into our iPods and an hour goes by so quickly. Not much is needed beyond rackets and tennis balls.. and a court to play on. Fortunately in Palm Springs there are an abundance of courts. You might want to check your local parks for availability.

Do you know that for recreational tennis you will earn 3 activity points for every 60 minutes of play?  Playing singles tennis for 60 minutes will help you to burn approximately 469 calories.
Did you know that to lose 1 US pound (.454 kg) you must burn 3,500 more calories than you took in as food?
